Despite Warhammer 40,000: Darktide not having the best progression system in addition to being a bit light on classes, a lot is going on under the hood. Character and build tweaking is a big part of Darktide’s endgame, and this can be something as simple as picking the right weapon, to choose the right Feats.
Throw in things like Blessings and Rarities, and you have yourself the building blocks for something engaging. Darktide takes it one step further, however, and introduces powerful talismans called Curios. What are Curios? How do they work? Where do you find them? All of these questions will be answered in this article.

What Are Curios?
Curios are powerful items that you can equip for your character. These will apply a mixture of Perks and Blessings, and these will alter how your character operates when on missions. Whilst your first Curios don’t do much, as you progress through the game, they get far more powerful.
Curios grant the following bonuses:
- Common – 1 Blessing
- Rare – 1 Blessing + 1 Perk
- Epic – 1 Blessing + 2 Perks
- Legendary – 1 Blessing + 3 Perks
How Do Curios Work?
Curios, like any other piece of Equipment, can be equipped when on the Mourningstar. However, unlike your basic guns and shovels, Curios are not available right away. You will only gain access to them once you have hit level 8. You will then gain additional Curio Slots at level 16 and level 24. This brings you to a total of 3 Curio Slots.
Curios on their own are very powerful, but there is more to them than meets the eye. Unlike FatShark’s previous game, Vermintide 2, Curios with the same effect can stack. This stacking is very important as you can focus your character by layering the same buffs over, and over again. Alternatively, you could not stack and have a more varied selection.
The real kicker, however, is how hard it is to get a good Curio. Because Curio Blessings and Perks are random, it can take a long time to get a Curio that does what you want it to do. Not only that, the effects themselves are not explained in-game, making it awkward to decipher what +1 Wound means, for example. Thankfully, you can reroll your Curio Blessings, making it a bit easier to craft the perfect item.
How To Get Curios?
Of course, altering Curios requires Curios to begin with, so how do you get them? Surprisingly, they are very easy to obtain. Once you have hit level 8, simply go to the Requisitorium and buy one. As is always the case, the selection on offer is completely random, so you might not always find a Curio, and even if you do, you are not likely to find one with all the stats you are looking for.
Alternatively, you can go to Sire Melk and exchange resources for Curios. The thing is, Sire Melk also provides other services that require materials, and to be perfectly honest, investing in a powerful weapon is more worthwhile.
Beyond that, you can try and grab one at random from Emperor’s Gifts, but these are very unreliable.
