We Happy Few And Others Set To Leave Xbox Game Pass

January 10, 2023 by Odhran Johnson

While Xbox Game Pass subscribers wait in eager anticipation to see what games will make their way to the service in the coming weeks the Xbox app has been updated to show a number of titles that’ll be leaving the service on January 16th, 2023. Among the list of titles leaving the catalog is Compulsion Games’ We Happy Few which was released back on July 26th, 2016 to mixed reviews. Describing itself as an action-adventure survival horror title, We Happy Few wowed players with its initial announcement trailer that depicted an open world with a similar art style to Bioshock and the same level of dark undertones that game portrayed. Despite the game visually looking similar the game had many issues on launch and players lambasted the title for poor AI among other things. The PC port of the game currently sits on a 62/100 on Metacritic with GameSpot reviewing the game as such: “There are just too many hurdles to overcome to enjoy We Happy Few, and not enough Joy in the world to cast them aside.”

While some subscribers might be worried at the fact that a title developed by an internal Microsoft studio is leaving the service users should really have no reason to be concerned. We Happy Few was ultimately published by Gearbox Publishing so the decision on whether to keep the title on Game Pass or not is up to them. With that being said, we should not see any departures of major Xbox-published titles like Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, or Sea of Thieves.

We Happy Few isn’t the only title to leave the service on January 16th. The full list of games set to exit the service on that date is listed below:

  • We Happy Few – PC, Cloud, and Console
  • The Anacrusis (Preview) – PC, Cloud, and Console
  • Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition – PC, Cloud, and Consoles
  • Nobody Saves the World – PC, Cloud, and Consoles
  • Pupperazzi – PC, Cloud, and Console
  • Windjammers 2 – PC, Cloud, and Console

There should be more announcements about future titles making their way to Xbox Game Pass at some point in the near future but Shadow Warrior 3 is reportedly coming to the service very soon. In the meantime, there are still plenty of titles to enjoy on Xbox Game Pass.
