Resident Evil 4 Remake Developers Reportedly Split Into Three Teams

January 2, 2023 by Dennis Patrick

Expect three major locations to still be intact with this remake.

Resident Evil fans have been eagerly awaiting the launch of the Resident Evil 4 remake. The video game installment was such cherished and beloved that fans are hopeful developers carefully remade the game for modern platforms. Of course, even though the game is a remake, developing it was quite the task. A new report is surfacing online that the development team had split into three groups as they worked through the remake. Those teams were responsible for three sections of the game.

This information is coming from a report from the Edge magazine which was also highlighted by industry insider Dusk Golem. Speaking with Capcom, it’s said that three teams were split into the development cycle of Resident Evil 4. Those teams were working on the Village, Castle, or Island sections of the game. It’s noted that after each team finished their sections of the game development, they came together and looked over each other’s work to tweak further or make any adjustments needed as they stitched it all together. Apparently, even more content was added to the Island section of the game, which could also indicate Capcom made other additions to the game outside of just the Island.

(2/2) finished their section of the game, they came back together and went over each team's work for revisions & to focus on alterations for pacing.

But the devs mention the Island by name & say there's "A lot more to it" than the original game, but don't clarify any further.

Whatever the case may be, with such a highly beloved installment, Capcom’s development team likely went through the production carefully. We should see this game in action relatively soon, as it’s still set to release on March 24, 2023. While we’ll likely have more trailer footage released and marketing materials, some fans might be hopeful Capcom will deliver a demo. Regardless, we’ll have to wait for the official announcement regarding any demo releases for the upcoming Resident Evil 4 release. That’s, of course, Capcom doesn’t end up delaying the game further into 2023.

Recently, in a recent Famitsu publication, Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, stated that they are the final spurt of the game development. So that could mean we’re likely going to see Resident Evil 4 released on time. Fortunately, when this game does release, it’ll be on a few platforms. Players will be able to pick up Resident Evil 4 on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. In the meantime, you can check out the game trailer in the video embedded below.
