Activision Publishing and Marvel Entertainment have announced that the The Amazing Spider-Man video game–set to launch in the summer of 2012–will be tied to upcoming feature film of the same name and will serve as an epilogue story to the events of the movie. It will also mark the return of free-roaming web-slinging, which has not been seen in recent Spider-Man titles.
Beenox will be taking the reigns on development and will feature an original plot, which writwill continue young Peter Parker’s adventures. The story will be crafted by talented Hollywood writer Seamus Kevin Fahey whose writing credits include the critically acclaimed Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica.
The new Spidey game will feature a 'Web Rush' mechanic allowing players to pull off an arsenal of moves. It will also have a very cinematic feel to it as you take the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man and fight crime all over New York City.
You can see the teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man game during Spike TV’s Video Game Awards, airing live on Saturday, December 10 at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT.
