Sonic Frontiers – How To Defeat Giganto | Boss Guide

November 14, 2022 by Adam Carr

Everything you need to know to beat Giganto in Sonic Frontiers.

Table of Contents[Hide][Show]
  • Phase One – Getting The Final Chaos Emerald
  • Phase Two – Super Sonic Time
  • Phase Three – More Of The Same

Early in Sonic’s adventures in Sonic Frontiers, he gets his head kicked in by one of the many Titans that exist in this world. Giganto is the name of this specific Titan, and the name is fitting, as this mad lad is larger than most mountains. Clearly outmatched, Sonic turns tail and does what he does best – runs.

Of course, you will have to fight Giganto eventually, and the fight is quite the spectacle. It has three phases, and if you want to win, you are going to have to go into this rocking Super Sonic. The catch? Giganto has the final Chaos Emerald. This fight is telegraphed to death, so be sure to grab some coins and save your game before taking this guy on.

Phase One – Getting The Final Chaos Emerald

Giganto is impervious to Sonic’s attacks, so don’t bother. Sonic might be strong, but he isn’t a walking-metal-mountain-destroyer…yet. Your first task is to obtain the final Chaos Emerald which is being stored on Giganto’s gigantic head.

To get up there, you need to run up to Giganto (a daunting prospect, we know) and run up one of his legs. Hit the Blue Gates to launch yourself up, and then steer yourself towards his bonce. Walk up to the Chaos Emerald, and get ready for Phase Two.

Giganto doesn’t have many attacks in Phase One, but it can fire lasers at you when you are running up its legs etc. These hurt, so again, be sure to stock up on Rings. You can find them scattered about the arena.

Phase Two – Super Sonic Time

Once you get the final Chaos Emerald, you turn into Super Sonic. This is where the fight really starts, and it’s very much a one-sided affair. However, there are a few things to note before you go blazing into battle.

Firstly, Super Sonic is immune to all damage, however, he is not immune to knockback and his ability to maintain his Super Sonic form is dependent on your Rings. This is a big deal since those rings are slowly drained when in this form. You have to defeat Giganto before that timer runs out. Make sure you have enough Rings BEFORE you get the Chaos Emerald.

Do note, however, that we actually completed this fight with less than 50 Rings, so you don’t need too many.

Now to the actual fight – its button mashing time. Boost towards Giganto and start mashing your attack buttons. All of your unlocked combos are available as Super Sonic, so go wild here.

Giganto will attack from time to time, and it’s at this point you want to Parry (the attack is telegraphed and very obvious). Parry his attack, hit your button prompt, and get back to mashing.

Once you have knocked Giganto down to around half health, Phase Three will begin.

Phase Three – More Of The Same

Phase Three will show Giganto getting rather peeved at his head being kicked in by a flying rodent, but the actual combat method is almost identical. Simply fly towards the front of Giganto’s head, and mash away. You will get a few QTE sections to complete, but these are very simple. Mash away until you win and enjoy the cutscene – it’s pretty darn cool.

With Giganto defeated, you are free to head to the second island! Congratulations.

That’s all we have on Sonic Frontiers for now. We have plenty of guides awaiting your perusal, and more Boss Guides are on the way.
