While Xbox One owners may be missing out on Street Fighter 5 (or the parts of it that are available so far at least), they do have Microsoft’s flagship fighter, Killer Instinct, and today Microsoft announced that the next season of the game will feature a crossover from Halo.
The Arbiter will make the jump to Season 3.
Microsoft, Killer Instinct Developer Iron Galaxy, and Halo studio 343 Industries revealed The Arbiter with a new gameplay trailer that lacks one of the character’s most distinguishing features: Keith David’s voice acting. David portrays the character in the main Halo titles but 343’s franchise development director Frank O’Connor says that The Arbiter who’ll appear in Killer Instinct is “an amalgam of historical arbiters.”
The Halo series previously crossed over into the fighting games universe on Xbox 360 with Dead or Alive 4, which included a guest appearance from Nicole, otherwise known as Spartan-458. The recent belated launch of football car game Rocket League on Xbox One also saw the inclusion of Halo’s famous Warthog vehicle.
During the Killer Instinct World Cup at PAX South last month, lethal martial artist Kim Wu, who made her series debut in Killer Instinct 2, was also announced for the game. At the time, the company also detailed the balance tweaks it’s making to the game, “Remember, the rebalance is a sum of all parts,” the studio added. “System changes, character changes, etc. Don’t think about a change you see and how it would act against a Season 2 character, as that will tell you the wrong story. Take it all in, try not to panic, you’ll be playing it very soon and we look forward to your feedback.”
Killer Instinct Season 3 will be available on Xbox One and Windows PC next month.
