Firaxis has shared a new message with the press, indicating that they are ‘working very furiously’ to fix the performance issues players have found in XCOM 2.
Lead Designer Jake Solomon explained that Firaxis was not aware of these issues because they were not issues that were found across the board. To be more specific, when they put the game through compatibility testing, they did not find these issues in the game computers they used.
Issues they identified and acknowledged include players experiencing hitching and framerate drops. Some gamers experienced this in high-end rigs, but other gamers with comparable hardware experienced nothing.
Solomon ended by saying they would definitely have fixes coming soon, but did not set a timetable. If you are experiencing issues with your copy of XCOM 2, you can share the details on this forum post or make a new thread so that Firaxis can look it up and prepare a hotfix. You can also go through this official troubleshooting guide to see if you can fix the issue yourselves.
Gameranx has also prepared our own crashes and fixes guide. You can also check out our other XCOM 2 guides, including one for .ini modifications and cheats, one for tech trees, research, and quests, and also one for keyboard shortcuts.
Firaxis first acknowledged the performance issues connected to XCOM 2 last Monday. They also released the first fixes update not too long afterwards. We will make sure to keep you updated as Firaxis prepares hotfixes and patches for XCOM 2.
