Mass Effect Andromeda‘s lead writer, Christopher Schlerf, has left Bioware, returning to Bungie.
Schlerf wrote for Mass Effect Andromeda since November 2013, meaning he worked on it for more or less two years.
In a series of tweets, Schlerf laid out all the details. Without giving an exact date, he already left Bioware’s Montreal studios a few months ago. Schlerf has nothing but good things to say about Bioware. Schlerf also Mass Effect Andromeda believes will blow people away, and he is very proud to have been a part of it.
Schlerf’s last tweet indicated he moved back to Seattle to once again work with Bungie. What’s interesting is Schlerf missed the entire time that Bungie left Microsoft to go third party. Within that time, Bungie gave up the reigns of Halo to work on their original project, Destiny.
Schlerf had a huge role in the production of Halo 4. He was senior writer and narrative director. In this capacity, he wrote its original script, and continued to flesh it out with other writers throughout production. Schlerf also wrote other Halo material, including Halo Escalation issues one to six.
Schlerf leaving the Mass Effect Andromeda project may be a hint that writing for the game is done or close to it, and Bioware has more than sufficient time to finish it in time for the holidays.
Mass Effect Andromeda will be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. EA revealed in an investor call it will be released between October 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017.
