MulitVersus continues to be a game that no one expected to be a hit, yet it has been in every way imaginable. The bizarre title has brought in massive amounts of money despite being free-to-play, largely due to the founder’s packs–the game doesn’t have microtransactions or things of that nature. With the game’s success, the team behind the title found plenty of things to fix, adjust, correct, and add as more players continue to obsess. Fast forward to now, and a new update is about to drop that’ll add a new character and drop some key changes for those playing the game long-term.
Let’s start with the big one as Rick has arrived! Yes, Rick from Rick and Morty will now be around to bother and fight his nephew Morty once again. Rick will be a mage character in the title, so use his abilities to the fullest and make people regret ever fighting him. You know, like how it is in his TV show?
While that was the biggest part of the update, it wasn’t the only part. The Multiversus team has made some key gameplay changes on various levels. For example, if you’re hoping to master a particular character, you’ll have to play a lot more, because the XP needed to get from level 3 to level 15 has now doubled. It won’t be as easy as it was before, which is actually what the dev team is going for.
“We were finding that players could get to level 15 of the mastery track too quickly. This is to help us make it a bit more of a journey.”
Another key swap is the free character you would get for completing the tutorial for the game. Before, you would get Wonder Woman, but now, you’ll get Shaggy. The reason for this swap is that Wonder Woman can now be purchased for gold or Gleamium.
Finally, a lot of bugs were fixed within the game, including ones where certain character bots would randomly appear, how certain players couldn’t equip icons, or one particularly bad one in which the game would freeze after the end-of-game screen popped up.
The patch notes make it clear that the team is doing all they can to make the title as fun and meaningful to players as possible. The updates won’t stop here as the game works toward its full launch in 2023, so do expect more adjustments like these. Not to mention, there will be more characters released as we get closer to the launch.
One can only wonder what else the team has cooking, but no matter what, the gamers will be there to play the title because they’re having a lot of fun with the game.
