Genshin Impact: How to Unlock Sumeru’s Underwater Waypoint

October 12, 2022 by Maddy Cohen

Genshin Impact loves puzzles. In Sumeru, those puzzles can apply to Waypoints and Domains. Find out how to unlock both here!

  • Navigate to the Waypoint
  • Fight Some Sentinels!
  • Follow the Seelie
  • Locate the Totems
  • Activate the Second Mechanism

Genshin Impact loves its underwater puzzles, with each new addition more complex than the last. Sumeru continues the tradition. Not only does Sumeru have an underwater Domain, but now, it also has an underwater Waypoint. As Waypoints provide some much needed convenience in such a large map (and provide some Primogems), unlocking them all should be a priority.

The underwater Waypoint is located in Vissudha Field. It takes two mechanisms to drain the water enough for you to activate it. However, the puzzles don’t take too long. Expect to spend about 20 to 25 minutes to completely access this area. Completing both puzzles will allow you to unlock a Waypoint and a one-time domain.

Navigate to the Waypoint

First, teleport to the Statue of the Seven in Visshuda Field. This is the closest teleport point to the Waypoint and you can top off on your HP. Open up the mini map, select the Waypoint, and choose “Navigate.” The Waypoint will show up on your mini map and keep you going in the right direction.

Fight Some Sentinels!

Next, you’ll have to fight some Ruin Sentinels. Once you’re done, go to the cube mechanism and select “Start.” There will be a Seelie floating above it.

Follow the Seelie

Follow the Seelie into the water. Make sure to have some Stamina-restoring food on you! Five Pickled Treasures, Northern Smoked Chicken, and Noodles with Mountain Delicacies all restore Stamina points.

The Seelie will bring you to another cave. You should see some Treasure Hoarders surrounding a locked Remarkable Chest. Defeat the Treasure Hoarders to unlock the chest and make your life a little easier as you’re exploring. You’ll find a second cube mechanism that’s locked. To unlock it, activate all four Dendro Totems.

Locate the Totems

  1. One Totem can be found in the dilapidated rock structure.
  2. Two Totems are hidden by breakable Dendro rocks. These are the cube-shaped rocks covered in vines, with a glowing green center. Summon the Dendrograna and use a Bow character to destroy it. One rock is located on the upper tree trunk path.
  3. The other rock is on a lower level. It’s guarded by a Winged Shroom enemy.
  4. The last Totem is behind the Dendro barrier. If you go to the right side of the barrier, you should be able to climb along the wall and sneak in.

Once you activate the Totems, you can activate the mechanism. This will drain the remaining water in the cave and allow you to access the Domain, Fragment of Childhood Dreams.

Activate the Second Mechanism

More Ruin Sentinels will show up. Defeat all Ruin Sentinels to unlock the next mechanism for Domain.

At this point, you can run back the way you came or teleport back to the Statue of the Seven in Visshuda Field. Navigate to the Waypoint and now, you can unlock it!
