Sony announced today that Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is getting its own PlayStation 4 bundle, which will launch simultaneously with the game. You can get a look at the limited edition hardware in the above trailer.
The Uncharted 4 PS4 itself is a unique bluish gray color featuring an image of Nathan Drake standing, holding a gun, and looking sad about the end of a thief. The Uncharted and PlayStation logos come in gold. It comes with, of course, a controller painted with the same color, along with a copy of the game. Preorders are open now.
This looks like a lucrative offer for any Uncharted fan, but especially those that may have been waiting until Nathan Drake’s final adventure to splurge on a PS4. If the wait seems like it’s taken forever, that may be due to the various delays. Still, with each push back of the game’s release date, we’ve learned a little bit more about the game.
At PSX in December, for example, we got a look at the game’s branching dialogue system in a touching scene where Nate meets his long-lost brother (who he apparently thought was dead? did he double check?) and the two have a long chat from sunset to sunrise. The game’s creative director, Neil Druckman, went on the record a few weeks later to clarify that the game would not have a branching narrative, and that the branching dialogue is limited to certain optional moments during the game. The player’s dialogue choices in these scenes won’t affect the overall story, but could give them a greater insight into the characters and what they’re going through. Druckman succinctly said, “We’re not making Mass Effect.”
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End launches, finally, on April 26, 2016.
