More Details About Twilight Princess HD Re-release Emerge, Upcoming Manga Confirmed

February 1, 2016 by Holly Green

Better handling, better swimming, and what’s this about chests?

Twilight Princess Details

With the upcoming high definition re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Nintendo is taking the opportunity to give the game some much-needed upgrades. First released on the Gamecube in 2006 and later on the Wii in 2011, Twilight Princess will continue to improve with this latest Wii U iteration, gaining shorter load times, faster animations, and improved gyroscope aiming courtesy of the Gamepad. This month’s issue of GamesMaster is shedding more light on these changes, saying updates have been made to give Epona better handling and Link better swimming abilities. Longtime fans of the series may also be relieved to know that rupee chests will now remain open once they’ve been disturbed; previously if Link’s wallet was full when opening a rupee-filled chest, the chest would close again and leave the rupee behind. However this makes it difficult for the player to use chests to make note of areas they’ve visited, so the feature has been changed.

In other TP news, Twilight Princess is set to receive some additional attention on paper. Famed female comic duo Akira Himekawa will be returning from a seven year hiatus on the Legend of Zelda series to create a new manga based on Twilight Princess. Teased this past July and officially revealed today on their Twitter feed, the manga will be serialized on Manga One, however it is currently unknown if it will be released as a set as with the team’s previous Legend of Zelda manga, which spans most of the previously released Zelda games.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD comes out on March 4 and will feature Wolf Amiibo compatibility. If you haven’t already, check out the new trailer from last week.
