Bandai Namco announced today Winning Putt, a free-to-play, multiplayer PC golf game. The title is currently in open beta, and set to launch later this year.
The game is described as delivering “immersive gameplay only imaginable in a virtual world,” where fantastical elements like enchanted clubs and upgraded gear serve as rewards. As players build their skill and level up, they can unlock new gear upgrades, skills, and character abilities, like the capability to see the wind before a stroke, or the ability to add powerboosts to a swing.
Winning Putt will support both solo and multiplayer, including guilds, where players can golf with friends. Bandai Namco is also touting the game’s character appearance and gameplay customization, allowing players to tailor their play style to be more accurate, powerful, or somewhere in between.
The game launched into open beta today. The title is being developed by Webzen Onnet, previously known for workin on the golf title Shot Online, and uses the CryEngine 3 engine. Full launch is expected later this year.
