What was once an innovative work around in a technologically limited video game era is now a bonafied artform, as any pixel art fan will tell you. This is especially true with the work of Gustavo Viselner, an Argentina-born art director from Israel. Also a freelance illustor, Viselner likes to create pixel art in his spare time, often depicting sci-fi and fantasy films of the 80s and 90s. Above is a scene from Return of the Jedi, and below, Aliens, Back to the Future, The Princess Bride, and Sleeping Beauty, respectively. If you head over to his portfolio you can also check out his SNES-ational homages to other films like A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Lord of the Rings, Dogma, Goldfinger, Back to the Future 2, and more. There's also a bit of his work in other mediums. Take a look over at Behance.
