Far Cry Primal will not have a multiplayer element and Ubisoft has explained why they decided not to feature online play in the upcoming game.
Community manager Jason Paradise has said the decision was made in order to focus the team on creating “best possible experience” for players by reinventing the “core gameplay loop.” This decision was made early in the development cycle.
“Bringing the Stone Age to life and providing players with a strong gameplay experience based off of the Far Cry legacy meant we had to reinvent our core gameplay loop,” Paradise commented on the game's Steam forum. “This was definitely not a small undertaking. Our focus was on delivering this fantasy which required clear priorities for the team.
“Therefore, in the early stages of the project, we made the difficult choice of focusing our efforts on the single-player experience.”
Set 12,000 years ago, the game launches for PS4 and Xbox One on February 23rd and comes to PC on March 1st. Far Cry Primal has two special editions, details of which you can find here.
