The long-running Tales Of series of games is set to continue with Tales of Berseria, a newly announced title from Bandai Namco Entertainment.
The new RPG title is slated for release on both the PlayStation 4 and Steam and is the first in the series to feature a female character as its singular main protagonist. In the adventure, players will encounter a myriad of characters who will join their party, including Laphicet, a young boy whose "created in the image of light."
In Tales of Berseria, players will embark on their journey as Velvet, a young woman whose "once gentle nature has been replaced and overcome with a festering anger and hatred after a traumatic experience three years prior to the events" within the game "imbued her left hand with a special ability." Throughout her adventure, Velvet will visit a wide range of environments as she travels the world.
Velvet is described as being the "embodiment of darkness."
Veteran Tales Of designers Mutsumi Inomata, Kosuke Fujishima, Minoru Iwamoto, and Daigo Okumura will be returning to help create the game’s many characters, while famous Japanese animation studio, ufotable, returns to animate the game’s cutscenes. Velvet and Laphicet were designed by Ms. Inomata and Mr. Iwamoto, respectively.
