It hasn’t been long since the upcoming sci-fi horror game The Callisto Protocol got its first big gameplay reveal, and the developers behind it have been chatting about their thoughts on the future of the IP. Speaking to PCGamesN, Chris Stone, Striking Distance Studios’ Chief Creative Officer, shared some of his team’s vision for where the whole Callisto concept could go.
The game, which originated as a spin-off from the battle royale style shooter PUBG, is intended for release in December this year. If the gameplay trailer shown at Summer Game Fest is anything to go by, the game is set to provide lots of gory, horror-fuelled action. Speaking to PCGamesN, Stone has explained that the Striking Distance Studios team has “no shortage of ideas” when it comes to a follow-up to the first game. Additionally, he remarked on the game’s potential longevity, explaining that “we’d love for The Callisto Protocol to be the start of a franchise.”
It’s obviously very early days for the game as we wait for its release at the end of this year, but the gameplay footage has caught the eye of many in the gaming community already. From brutal combat action to tense, immersive HUD styling, The Callisto Protocol might just be one of the biggest hit games of 2022 if it lives up to the hype. As far as a potential franchise goes, we’ll just have to wait and see how the space-based horror survival action goes down with the community post-launch.
The Callisto Protocol will be released on December 2nd. It will be available on Xbox Series X, Series S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
