Annual Assassin’s Creed outings are great for the fans. Sure, we get only minor updates each year but it means that we get our fix. The obvious downside is that we’re all overexposed to the brand, the series stagnates under its own release schedule and the audience rapidly narrows.
So far, AC hasn’t really been victim of that – so far. In an interview with VG24/7, Raphael Lacoste of Ubisoft Montreal admitted that perhaps it’s time to take a break.
“We have a very well trained team, so we know how to do cities and create the landmarks. I think we have a nice process, a nice workflow. But you’re right, I think we need to step back, to maybe take more time to do something fresh. It’s still a big challenge, but we could make it with a little more time.”
Honestly, once I’ve finished Revelations I’d hate knowing that the next outing was more than 12 months away. If it takes the franchise forward, however, it’s a small price to pay.
