SteamDB Leaks Possible Crash Bandicoot 4 on Steam

No detail can hide from SteamDB.

A comment from the staff at SteamDB seems to indicate that Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will be coming to the Steam store at some point.

Since last year, the latest entry in the Crash Bandicoot franchise has solely been the domain of Battle.net for PC since Activision-Blizzard owns Toys For Bob, the developer of the game. Since Activision-Blizzard was acquired by Microsoft, it makes sense we might start to see titles spread their wings outside of Battle.net.

SteamDB is a website that provides transparency to the mechanical workings of Steam’s storefront, allowing users to search games by appID, seeing what kind of changes, updates, and news get pushed through behind the scenes. A recent comment on the page for appID “1378990” from the SteamDB staff, claims the untitled app could be Crash Bandicoot 4.

This is far from the first time that SteamDB has been at the center of a potential leak. Having access to and being able to understand the sort of esoteric input that goes through Steam’s back-end puts the site in a unique position to spot leaks from miles away.

While coming to Steam is a welcome surprise, what’s even more surprising is that the game isn’t coming to Xbox Games Pass. After all, after Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, the Xbox maker announced that they would be bringing as many titles as they can to Xbox and the Xbox store.

If Microsoft really does bring Activision-Blizzard titles to the Xbox Games Pass or even just the store, it begs the question of what will happen to the proprietary Battle.net launcher that already handles games from World of Warcraft to Call of Duty to Overwatch.

Crash Bandicoot 4 is available now on PC (through Battle.net), Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and possibly very soon: the Steam store.
