UPDATE: The source for this story, French wesbite alchimy, has updated their story to clarify that there is no confirmation of a sequel from Alain Damasio. This is the original French text of Alain's interview, and a more accurate translation of the statement:
S’il devait y avoir une suite, j’aurais plaisir à y contribuer aussi, bien sûr.
If there was to be a follow up, I would be please to contribute to it too, of course.
Were you hoping to see Dontnod and Square Enix continue the story of Life is Strange? Worry no more.
In an interview held in French, Dontnod cofounder Alain Damasio flatly confirmed that there would be a Life is Strange 2. To be more specific, he acknowledged his role as the original game’s script doctor, and stated he would be working on the sequel as well.
Without going into spoilers, the conclusion of Life is Strange plugged most of the holes in the narrative, and would not allow you to revisit the same world with the same characters. It is fair to speculate that Dontnod would go on a tangent using one of the side characters, or even start over from scratch, with a new story using a similar scenario.
After the critical and commercial miss that was Remember Me, Dontnod was fortunate with their sophomore effort, as Life is Strange reached one million in sales just last June. Thanks to taking advantage of its episodic format, Dontnod made changes as the game released, and was able to turn around critical reception from mixed to mostly positive.
