Sony Computer Entertainment Japan is committed to holding the PlayStation Awards 2011, which plans to honor game studios for their creativity and the games they delivered throughout the year.
Games which ship over 500,000 shipments are awarded with a Gold Prize, and titles that exceed over a million in sales receive the Platinum Prize. Since the birth of the PlayStation in 1994, the awards have been celebrated every year, with awards going to over 200 games to date.
This time around, Sony will allow the people to select their own picks with the addition of a new User's Choice Award. The official event website has been accepting nominations and votes since March 10.
The PlayStation Awards 2011 will take place on 5 December, and will be streamed live to internet users over a USTREAM channel.
