Runewords, Glyphwords coming to The Witcher 3 in Hearts of Stone DLC

October 12, 2015 by Michael Fossbakk

Hearts of Stone DLC out tomorrow.

Hearts of Stone, the first of two planned, big DLC expansions for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, is out tomorrow, Oct. 13, and brings with it two new ways of customizing Geralt: Runewords and Glyphwords.

CD Projekt Red penned a blog post on the European PlayStation Blog, detailing how Runewords and Glyphwords can affect Combat, Signs, and Alchemy.

First discussing Combat, the developer wrote, “One of the drawbacks of going the Combat route is the fact that if you want to maximise your damage, you will not have too much left to protect yourself with. This problem can be fixed with new Runewords and Glyphwords we are bringing to you in Hearts of Stone.”

Some examples of Runewords and Glyphwords that can be used to alter existing Combat skills include Runeword Placation, “which increases your health regeneration when you build up enough Adrenaline,” and Glyphword Deflection, which gives Geralt the ability to deflect any incoming arrow.

On the topic of Signs, CD Projekt Red said, “The major drawback of the Signs tree is that you need a full stamina bar to cast them. It takes a few precious seconds to refill it, so casting the right sign at the right moment is critical. There are some Runewords and Glyphwords that can help with maintaining stamina. The Rejuvenation Runeword restores a bit of lost stamina instantly and the Protection Glyphword will activate Quen without reducing stamina when you enter combat.”

In Alchemy, there is a Runeword called Invigoration that will cause “any type of healing you do when your Vitality is at maximum will be used to increase the damage of your next sword attack.”

There are other Runewords and Glyphwords that can be found in Hearts of Stone, but the developer only wished to detail a few. Hearts of Stone will be available tomorrow, Oct. 13. Recently, CD Projekt Red released a new patch that has been found to have new bugs and problems associated with it.
