Forspoken’s Rating Has Been Set at 18

May 25, 2022 by John McDonald

You won’t believe the reasons as well.

There is a highly anticipated game coming from Square Enix in October called Forspoken, and the news we’re hearing is that Forspoken’s rating has been set at 18 by PEGI. Now, it’s not every day a fantasy game is stamped with this rating, and especially for these reasons as well – just wait until you hear these.

According to the rating board, Forspoken’s rating is due to the “use of strong language (f**k), as well as some milder terms,” as well as violence, both realistic and in the fantasy setting. But it doesn’t end there because the rating is also attributed to the use of alcohol and the inclusion of certain in-game purchases which also resulted to it.

The PEGI website claims that “The player’s character can order alcoholic drinks at a bar. The drinks affect the player’s statistics but do so in a random manner with negative outcomes possible.” Maybe they’ve taken this a little bit too seriously, it is a fantasy after all.

That wasn’t it though, PEGI also went on to say that “the game also includes scenes of realistic violence, including a woman being set upon by a group of thugs who punch and kick her and hold a gun to her head. There is also violence against the fantasy characters, who are knocked backward by attacks and bleed yellow blood.” That last line basically says it all, right?

And finally, PEGI has also spoken about how at one point in the game, “It looks as if the main character plans to drunkenly take her own life before being saved by a mysterious entity.” It sounds as if they are covering themselves from all angles here, making sure nothing sneaks past.

Following a delay, the game is now expected to be released on October the 11th, 2022, so watch out for that, if you are over 18 that is. Watch the most recent trailer below – it does look pretty epic.
