All good things come to those who wait. It seems this mantra will need to be the case for those who were looking forward to the release of the indie island adventure game Tchia. In a tweet posted earlier this afternoon, the game’s developer Awaceb has revealed that the release window for the game is to be pushed back to early next year.
Although it was meant to be released this year, it doesn’t look like that’s going to be on the cards anymore. It seems a little bit more time is needed to iron out any kinks and give Tchia the finishing touches that the game’s director Phil Crifo suggests it needs in the tweet.
The game, which showcased its first proper gameplay trailer at The Game Awards in December last year, sees players taking on the role of island adventurer Tchia on a gorgeous-looking archipelago that players can traverse in a range of different ways. Inspired by the real-world islands of New Caledonia in the South Pacific, Tchia looks set to be a hit with fans of chilled and relaxing games as well as those who love a good open-world exploration experience. While the tweet from Awaceb didn’t specify when exactly in early 2023 players can expect Tchia to be released, it’s clear that the studio would rather use this time to get the game in the best shape as possible before launch. Reaction online has been pretty supportive though, with most fans seemingly happy to wait a little bit longer before being able to sail the islands of the archipelago.
Tchia will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC via the Epic Games Store when it releases in early 2023.
