Activision apparently has plans to expand the Call of Duty franchise, if you can believe that.

Activision Chief Marketing Officer Tyler Bahl recently spoke to The Game Business about Call of Duty: Black Ops 7’s reception, acknowledging that it was not “what our community was looking for”.
Recognizing that players are looking for a tonal shift, Bahl then said this:
And so we’ve already kind of stated that a future title is going to be a new sub-franchise and we’ve already kind of laid the groundwork there.
Bahl is being a bit vague, but at least we know that they won’t repeat what they’ve been doing, with following up a big Call of Duty with a seemingly smaller sequel, that looks like it was repurposed seasons of DLC.
But what this specifically means is still up in the air. Are they making a permanent 3rd continuity to match Modern Warfare or Black Ops? Are they spinning off DMZ or Zombies into separate games? Or are they spinning off a more casual friendly, streamlined Call of Duty?
