According to the latest data, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has been the most successful launch of a Lego game in the UK. In the GfK data as published on GamesIndustry.biz, the game’s boxed sales figures alone have already smashed the previous record holder’s stats out of the water.
Since 2008 Lego Indiana Jones has held the record for the biggest ever Lego game launch title, but Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has exceeded its figures by 8.4%
Somewhat incredibly, in terms of boxed copies, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has overtaken both Elden Ring, Gran Turismo 7 and Horizon Forbidden West in the race for the fastest-selling game of the year. However, it’s still come in the runner-up position to Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Pretty impressive when you consider that this isn’t even taking digital sales into consideration.
On PS5 the game sold best with 31% of launch sales, followed by Nintendo Switch sales at 26%, Xbox sales at 23% and PS4 pulling in 20% of the sales.
GfK games head Dorian Bloch explained the stats for Lego game sales in the UK in a bit more detail.
The current all-time unit sales No.1 is LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, followed at No.2 by LEGO Batman and at No3 by LEGO Indiana Jones. Then it’s two Star Wars titles: LEGO Star Wars 2: Original Trilogy at No.4 and No.5 is LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. All of which have grossed over 1m units in the UK and between £27m to £34m in box revenue.

It’s evident that Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga has got off to an incredible start. It’ll be interesting to see how those totals tally up when digital copies of the hugely popular game are brought into the equation as well. They’re expected to be equally, if not more impressive in terms of numbers, so it could be that this new Lego title is the franchise’s most successful one to date.
