Yacht Club Games is hyping up upcoming Shovel Knight update Plague of Shadows for Wii U and 3DS on the Nintendo UK YouTube channel.
The pitch for Plague of Shadows is simple, and easy to understand for folks who’ve already played the game. You play as Plague Knight, the black sheep of Order of No Quarter. This time, you’re working with the mysterious mistress of potions, Mona, as you retackle Shovel Knight levels, and face your former colleagues, in an all-new adventure.
Plague Knight has a double jump, and a bevy of bombs and weapons. He can’t bounce off platforms like Shovel Knight can, changing up how you play on a basic level. This means he can find passages and access new areas Shovel Knight can’t.
On top of this, Plague Knight’s set of bombs and weapons can be customized to create unique effects, giving you the freedom to play him as you like it.
Plague Knight won’t just interact with Mona, but reinteract with the villagers and other NPCs. He isn’t as popular as Shovel Knight, so these interactions will play out much, much differently.
Lastly, Yacht Club Games revealed Plague of Shadows will have a new Challenge Mode, which will give you new challenges for Shovel Knight and Plague Knight that isn’t possible in the main game.
Yacht Club Games ends their hype video with the promise of more content to come. In fact, they promise this is only the beginning for the game's free future updates and expansions.
Of course, Shovel Knight Plague of Shadows is not just coming to Wii U and 3DS, but also Windows, OS X, Linux, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One.
