Bethesda revealed a huge batch of details regarding Fallout 4 during QuakeCon. There’s a lot to go through so let’s just get to it:
Companions:
You get to choose between 12 companions, including Preston Garvey, Piper, Dogmeat and Mr. Handy. As you may already know the dog’s name is Dogmeat, and he was modeled after the lead level designer’s dog River. Each of Mr. Handy’s internal parts modeled, but you can only see them when he is destroyed. You can have romantic relationships with only human companions, but on the upside, gender is not a limitation on whom you can be involved with.
Factions:
One cool thing Bethesda added in is that the NPC factions actually fight between each other. When you run across a skirmish like that in-game, you can just sit back and watch, or you can join in. One faction, the Commonwealth Minute Men is a group of five men. Their leader is one of your potential companions, Preston Garvey.
Environments:
Bethesda announced a new environment, Diamond City. No, this isn’t a Pokemon City. Diamond City was built out of the ruins of Fenway Park, the oldest MLB ballpark and the home of the Boston Red Sox. The town of Lexington and the Corvega Power Plant were also shown.
Mechanics:
The terminal hacking and lockpick systems work exactly like they did in Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. The looting system has a smaller list view for items, and you can scroll through the list.
Laser Muskets reload after every shot.
Stats and Perks:
The strength stat increases your carrying capacity.
Fallout 4 will have perks, which can be chosen from the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. menu every time you level up. There are a total 70 perks, including “Attack Dog” and “Intimidation.”
Miscellaneous:
The Fatman Launcher, the Fallout Brotherhood power armor, and airships were added to the game.
Over 1,000 names for characters have been recorded.
You can now see the cover of books and comic books.
Ghouls can now climb windows
Look at your Pip-Boy during a fight will pause the game.
Fallout 4 will be coming November 10, 2015, to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows.
