Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection: Motion Controls are Optional, New Difficulty Added

July 16, 2015 by Ian Miles Cheong

The remastered versions of Uncharted and its sequels will have a new difficulty level.

When Uncharted was originally released, it "featured" motion controls that made use of the PlayStation 3's DualShock motion sensors, forcing players to flail their arms outstretched to aim their grenades and balance themselves across wooden logs. More hassle than feature, motion controls were one of the title's few flaws that marred the otherwise great experience.

The remaster of the game will be launching as a part of Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for the PlayStation 4, which also includes Uncharted 2 and 3. The motion controls designed for the first game will not be present or be completely optional.

Speaking to Kotaku, developer Bluepoint revealed that motion controls for grenades will be a completely optional setting, while they'll be disabled for walking across logs.

All three games will come with an added difficulty level that's designed to challenge veterans of the series.

Anyone who picks up the trilogy will gain early access to the multiplayer beta for Uncharted 4. It's out on October 7 in North America and on October 9 in Europe.
