Call of Duty: Black Ops 3basically remakes the old Der Riese map (COD: World at War, COD: Black Ops) to bring us The Giant bonus map. The characters appear as they were in the Origins map, and continue right off Shadows of Evil.
In The Giant, we see our characters going back in time and messing with certain things, supposedly to rewrite history and create a better world (according to Richtofen). We see Richtofen shooting his future self, and there’s no confirmed explanation for that yet, but it’s pretty clear that that’s going to affect something, possibly in a big way.
One thing that YouTuber JohnyJ25 noticed is that after Richtofen shoots his future self in the face, he kneels down as if to collect something. Some of you might have dismissed it as checking for a pulse, or maybe thought absolutely nothing of it. There are no throwaway gestures here, though.
Some of you may have noted that Richtofen actually carries two vials of blood on his person, belonging to Sal and Finn from the Black Ops 2 Mob of the Dead map, so he might have knelt to collect a sample of his blood. What for, though? Your guess is as good as ours. Maybe it’s just an easter egg, but it was surely done on purpose. Maybe it’ll play a part in the bigger story.
JohnyJ25 presents the possibility that Richtofen might be collecting blood from his future self because there’s something different about it; he could also be doing ti to “create a better world.” All we know for certain is he’s not being very open about what he’s doing. Sneaky, sneaky.
Perhaps we’ll find out more details when we get closer to the launch date. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will be available on November 6, 2015 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. Tell us in the comments if you’ve got any other theories for this storyline.
