Sony and Naugty Dog have announced Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for PlayStation 4, which will be released on October 7th, 2015 in North America and on October 9th in Europe.
Purchasing the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection will grant access to the Uncharted 4: A Thief's End multiplayer beta.
The Collection includes Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, all of which will run at 60fps and 1080p with improved lighting, textures, and models. While Naughty Dog handled development of The Last of Us Remastered, Bluepoint Games, which has previously worked on the likes of Titanfall and the God of War Collection, is overseeing the Collection and the studio is "working on a range of improvements and additions across all three games."
Those who pre-order the Collection will receive the Nathan Drake Pack which includes single player skins of "iconic Drake outfits" as well as a Golden AK-47 and Golden 92FS guns. The digital version, which can be pre-ordered via the PlayStation Store, offers a PS4 dynamic theme.
To date, the Uncharted series has sold over 21 million copies and has an average Metacritic rating of 92.
The Collection leaked earlier today on the PlayStation Mobile Store but even without that, this is hardly a surprising development. Uncharted: Golden Abyss, a PS Vita launch title, has not made into the Collection, and quite why Sony felt the need to add Drake's name to the package is something of a mystery given that there haven't been any games in the series without him. While Microsoft did release Halo: The Master Chief Collection, there have been Halo games without the Chief. Indeed one of them, Halo 3: ODST, was recently launched for the Master Chief Collection.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End launches in Spring 2016.
