It has come to light that Sony is planning to release a 1 TB SKU for its bestselling PlayStation 4 console.
This information is publicly available via the US FCC website, where certification documents for the latest SKUs exist. Sony has mentioned plans to sell two active SKUs, and based on these documents, one will be 500 GB and the other the aforementioned 1 TB.
These new SKUs will also replace internal components, to help lower the costs further. No word on bundling or unbundling the cvamera.
Now, it may be too hasty to claim that one of these SKUs is the slim PlayStation 4 model . Those usually come out close to or at the end of a PlayStation cycle, with stripped down features, lower power consumption, and a lower price point. Sony will need to wait for components to go down in price enough to make these models possible.
Our source does speculate that the 1 TB PS4 will now occupy the $ 399 price point, with the 500 GB model available at a reduced price. Given how well the console has been selling thus far, this would certainly help keep interest and sales high.
