Star Wars games are getting to be bountiful. After EA no longer has the right to develop the franchise games exclusively, more developers are getting their hands on the IP. For example, we know that Ubisoft’s Massive Entertainment is working on a new Star Wars game. Although, haven’t seen that title yet, but they are not alone here. Another title was recently unveiled with Star Wars Eclipse. This game comes from Quantic Dream, who you might be familiar with from their previous narrative-driven titles.
If the studio name doesn’t ring a bell, perhaps their video game titles might. Quantic Dream is responsible for Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, and Detroit: Become Human. Their upcoming Star Wars game takes players to the High Republic era, but the finer details of what this game is about remain a mystery. So instead, we only have one small CGI trailer with fans now waiting for the first gameplay footage. Unfortunately, a rumor might suggest that the developers have a rougher time than ever with this game.
Tom Henderson is a credible online industry insider. The individual has showcased a few notable game updates and announcements before being official. However, you’ll still want to take this new information as nothing more than a rumor right now. According to Tom Henderson, Quantic Dream is having a tough time developing Star Wars Eclipse because of its engine. This engine being used was made for a specific type of game.
After all, the games mentioned prior all played the same. There were small sections to explore, pick up clues, branching dialogue conversations, and QTEs throughout. As a result, developing this Star Wars game has been a challenge. It doesn’t look like there is any internal playable build quite yet. So again, please take this information as nothing more than a rumor right now, but it could mean that we might not see Star Wars Eclipse for a good while.
