Galactic Inheritors is a 4X sci-fi strategy game from former Paradox Interactive designer and programmer Chris King and Pontus Aberg at their new studio, CrisPon Games.
The game is currently available through Steam Early Access and the developers say there are some key features which make the stand-out from the crowd.
For example, rather than simply declaring war on another faction, you must build up tension with that nation in order to gain support from your people for a conflict. This is reflected in a media system that can also be used against your faction by another nation.
Players will also need to cooperate with their nation's military industrial complex so they can design ships which meet unique specialisations. These companies will become more aware of your preferences and gain experience, which allows them to specialise.
Solar systems rather than individual planets are managed with as many as 100 solar systems available for colonisation or conquest. You'll also need to develop solar systems based on what each one needs to reach maximum potential output for that system.
There are also no traditional planet based battles; rather, you conquer solar systems using nukes as the troops needed to hold multiple worlds over light years would numbers in the billions.
Faster than light travel exists in the game, but zones of control can be established to set up frontiers and prevent enemies jumping directly into your empire.
