Sledgehammer Games has taken a strange tack with their teaser for upcoming Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare DLC,Exo Zombies.
#ID8122153 seems to be a series of transmissions from a hacker who entered Atlas Biogenesis’ research and development facility. The hacker doesn’t seem to have entered to attack Atlas, and may in fact have done so at their behest, or for the government or some other entity.
Over the course of four hours, the official COD Twitter account tweeted nothing but #ID8122153 transmissions, sharing pics and even an audio file to help set the atmosphere. It does not take long before our hacker narrator figures out what’s up, and shares two pics of zombies to boot.
For the period of time that the hashtag has been active, the COD account changed its name to SRVR:ATLAS. Of course, it’s easy to guess that SRVR means survivor, but there is a chance it could mean something else. Could it be the program that sent the hacker in there, or even what started this discreet zombie making program? Do you think you’ll end up rescuing said hacker?
It does seem that the hashtag is a success, as fans are responding with increased interest. What do you hope to see in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Exo Zombies? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
In the meantime, we have purposefully avoided spoilers for the hashtag as much as possible, so you can enjoy it for yourself. You can read the tweets in proper order in the Storify below.
