In a blog post by Beamdog, some very interesting information has been confirmed. Beamdog will apparently be heading the development of a new Baldur's Gate game. While they've alluded to this in previous messages to their fans, it hasn't been explicitly stated until now.
The blog post reads:
"This year, the eagerly anticipated Adventure Y will finally navigate the dark underground caverns of development and venture out into the Sword Coast. We’ve mentioned before that Adventure Y will be an addition to the Baldur’s Gate line using the Infinity engine, bridging the gap between Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition. Keep an eye on the Beamblog in late spring for announcements regarding the content and release date of Adventure Y."
The game will focus on bridging the gap between Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, which should prove to offer gamers some unique content to work their way through.
If Baldur's Gate isn't really your cup of tea, Beamdog discusses their other projects in the same post. These include both Project: Bear Trap and Dungeons and Dragons: Fifth Edition.
