Valve has confirmed that Steam Machines will be ‘front and center’ in this year’s GDC.
Valve was essentially compelled to make a statement after an earlier interview with Origin PC CEO Kevin Wasielewski asserted that the Steam Machines name was dead. There may have been some confusion here, so to be clear, Wasielewski didn’t claim Valve cancelled plans for their own platform, only that Valve is dropping the name.
In any case, Valve has stated that Steam Machines will be at the center of the huge presence that the company will have at VGC. They also confirmed that the controller has been finalized, so the last design that was leaked – with the left touchpad having a d-pad guide and everything else staying equal – may be what makes it to consumer’ hands. Of course, Valve would not share more information than this.
