Valve has released a new beta update to its Steam client, with one notable feature – an FPS counter to the Steam overlay.
They also fixed the reloading setting values in the Steam overlay, making the game easier to modify, whether you’re trying to improve a game’s performance on PC, or testing it out as a developer.
They also made these other changes :
· Lowered CPU use drawing animated images or videos
· Video performance improvements for OS X / Linux
· D3D9 game capture performance improvements
· Audio/video sync improvements
· Video encoding bitrate improvements
· Nvidia GPU OpenGL compatibility support enabled
· UIs added to Big Picture
· Fix for friend invites for broadcasts getting dropped
Already, a fan is asking that they increase the FPS counter, since it is too small at 1080p. Of course, Steam and its client is always a work in progress. What would you like to see Valve add or improve on next? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.
