We all know that amiibo are in short supply nationwide as shoppers snatch them from store shelves faster than retailers can stock them. Still, there's no way they could already be outpacing the likes of million-dollar titans Skylanders and Disney Infinity, can they? Well… yes, they can! At least at Best Buy!
Videogame sales analysis site Consulgamer posted some fascinating data: a list of Best Buy's best-selling toys-to-life products. In the top 20, Disney Infinity and amiibo claim 10 spots each. When expanded to the top 50, each have 18 spots, while Skylanders takes the remaining 14.
Consulgamer further speculates that the extreme scarcity may be boosting demand, as potential buyers race to buy product before they're all gone. At this time, supply hasn't run out — not even on the supposedly "discontinued" trio of Village, Marth, and Wii Fit Trainer — but that doesn't seem to be stemming the tide.
If the performance of amiibo at Best Buy is reflective of the wider sales of the figurines, this can only be good news for Nintendo.
