When pre-orders for the Toys R Us-exclusive Lucario amiibo suddenly ended on Monday, buyers went into a panic. They were already nervous about certain amiibo getting discontinued within weeks of launching, and now they had to worry about amiibo selling out before they even arrived on shelves! But we can rest easy for the time being, as Lucario pre-orders are back — who knows for how long this time, so get your wallets ready ASAP.
We had previously reported that Nintendo Assistant PR Manager David Young assured a concerned fan that no amiibo had been discontinued, but this conflicted with other comments made by Nintendo representatives at the time. Nintendo as a whole has since made a formal statement that corroborates Young's assurance:
Some amiibo were very popular at launch, and it is possible that some amiibo in the United States, Canada and Latin America may not be available right now due to high demand and our efforts to manage shelf space during the launch period. Certain sold-out amiibo may return to these markets at a later stage. We are continually aiming to always have a regular supply of amiibo in the marketplace and there are many waves of amiibo to come.
Even though the likes of Marth, Villager, and Wii Fit Trainer are nowhere to be found, we just need to exercise a bit of patience until the day they return.
