Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire aren't the only new Nintendo titles that have been making mad bank. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, which launced alongside the new Pokemons, has already become the fastest-selling Wii U game in the United States. From November 21 through 23, Smash sold more than 490,000 copies across physical and digital formats. The previous fastest seller was, of course, Mario Kart 8.
That number may not sound all that impressive compared to Pokemon's 3,000,000+ figure, but consider several things. First, Smash has only released in a single region thus far. Second, there are millions more 3DS units out in the wild than there are Wii U machines. And third, a 3DS Smash was just released last month. With all that in mind, the performance here is quite impressive.
Smash Wii U is sure to be a huge seller going into the holiday season, and its release elsewhere will further cement its best-selling status.
