World of Warcraft is a title of grandiose scale. It could be argued that it's the one most important title of our time, given its size and scope. Blizzard Entertainment has done a really swell job of providing content updates for the game and they've recently been quoted, saying that they believe World of Warcraft will still be around in 2024.
The most recent expansion to breathe new life into World of Warcraft comes in the form of Warlords of Draenor. Warlords of Draenor takes players through a timeshifted series of events, so players can interact with characters like Garrosh Hellscream, among others. For fans of the series' lore, this should come as really exciting news.
Blizzard Entertainment sure got some electrifying news of their own recently, as it appears Warlords of Draenor has done everything that they had hoped sales-wise. Apparently, the World of Warcraft expansion pushed nearly 3.3 million copies off store shelves. This huge sales spike put World of Warcraft back over the 10 million subscribers mark. There are very few MMORPGs that can say they have hit this momentous milestone.
Here's what Blizzard had to say on the development:
“We’re thrilled that so many players jumped in to play Warlords of Draenor on day one and are having a great time with the new content,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “We poured a lot of hard work and passion into this expansion, and we appreciate all the kind words from players and the overwhelming support they continue to show for World of Warcraft.”
