MLG and Valve will be bringing a new Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament to the X-Games in January 23, 2015.
This comes following Valve’s successful deal with ESPN in hosting and broadcasting the DOTA 2 The Internationalchampionships, as well MLG’s successful collaboration with Activision to host a Call Of Duty tournament in Austin.
The tournament will start out with online qualifiers, with eight finalists to perform in the Winter X-Games, alongside some snowboarding and skiing events.
While The International was broadcast by ESPN on ESPN2, ESPN3, and via their ESPN app, this event will get highlights broadcast on ABC and ESPN, and by extension, will be shown around the world.
This is another definite win for Valve, but also an achievement for eSports and gaming as a whole. Here’s hoping the championships live up to its promise.
