Uber Entertainment has cancelled ambitious monster movie themed real-time strategy game Human Resources. They simply forecast that they would not be making their goal on time.
At time of cancellation, they were able to raise $ 384,358, but their goal was nearly five times as big at $ 1.4 million. The developers paid particular attention to the money they had raised at October 19, and simply realized they would not raise the amount needed in time.
Uber was able to deliver on a prior Kickstarter, Planetary Annihilation, just a month before, on September 5. They were able to successfully raise $ 2.229 million for that Kickstarter, but it seems they would not be duplicating this feat for Human Resources.
Of course, since Uber cancelled this early, all the money raised will be given back to the pledgers.
All things considered, Uber’s decision to cancel the Kickstarter early is commendable, and should serve as a good example to other devs for their crowdfunding efforts. Cancelling crowdfunds that won’t make it early means backers won’t have to worry about their fans, and is a good show of transparency.
