Assassin’s Creed Rogue And Unity Details: Rogue Map Size, Unity Coop, And More

September 29, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

Shay Cormac gets a host of new gameplay mechanics.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue is a considerably larger game than Assassins’ Creed Black Flag, based on map size alone.

During a gameplay demo, Ubi devs revealed that each location in Rogue is as big as the entire map of Black Flag. For comparison’s sake, the River Valley, and the Arctic in Rogue is the size of the Caribbean in Black Flag.

The berserk darts Shay Cormac deploys can also be used on animals, including bears and guard dogs. In turn, his firecracker darts can distract guards by making them look or move to a specific point.

Shay will have a personality all his own, with new and unique combat and parkour animations.

Shay gets to use a host of new tactics. He can air assassinate Assassins hiding in haystacks. He can loot crates for ammo. He can also quickshoot using pistols, just like Edward. The assassins he hunts may he disguised as civilians or soldiers in Assassin Interceptions.

Joining Shay as his quartermaster is Christopher Gist, a British frontiersman who settled in American states before they became the USA. He was one of the first to find Ohio Country, and was involved in the French and Indian War. In the context of this war, he saved a young George Washington’s life twice.

Ubi shared new details about Assassin’s Creed Unity as well. Guards will not be able to parkour up walls like Assassins can, and can only use ladders now. You will be able to join coop games in progress. Lastly, and most intriguingly, there will be a huge reveal one hour into Unity regarding events in the real world.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue will be released November 11 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, while Assassin’s Creed Unity will be released November 11 on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
