Destiny’s Vault of Glass Raid Goes Live

September 16, 2014 by Ian Miles Cheong

Destiny’s first Raid is its most difficult content yet.

Destiny’s first 6-player raid and hardest challenge to date, the Vault of Glass, is now available for ultra-high level players in the game. To get into the Vault of Glass, you’ll need gear upgraded with the Light stat to boost your levels beyond level 20, the game’s soft level cap.

"No one knows what lies within the Vault of Glass, only that beyond its gates you will face your greatest challenge yet," reads an official description. "Gather your Light. Stand together. Become legend."

The raid, which is now available, launched at 2am Pacific/5am Eastern time today.

"Raids introduce the sixth activity to Destiny, in which players will have to battle their way through intense encounters the likes of which they have yet to experience in the game," said Harold Ryan, Bungie president. "It's humbling to see millions of guardians enjoying Destiny already. We can't wait for people to experience this exciting, new way to play the game and are committed to continuing to deliver new experiences to the Destiny community."

Unlike other events in Destiny, which have been restrictively time limited, the Vault of Glass will be available whenever you’re ready to proceed. Interestingly, the game will only save your progress for one week, so don’t dally for too long if you make it in and decide to stop half way through.

It is possible to access the Vault of Glass if you’re below the game’s recommended level 26, but doing so will only prove disastrous, Bungie has warned.

Destiny has met middling reviews since its launch last week—a fact that may cost the game’s publisher Activision $2.5 million in revenue.

The game is out for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
