It should come as no surprise to anyone that Capcom is developing Resident Evil: Revelations 2. Given the popularity of the first game, which itself was a spinoff of the main Resident Evil series and a return back to its survival horror roots, it should come as a shock to no one that Capcom wants to deliver more of what players want.
The original Resident Evil: Revelations, also titled Biohazard Revelations, was originally released for the Nintendo 3DS and later ported to PC and console platforms with high resolution graphics.
As for the new game, it hasn’t been officially announced, but an image of its box art was accidentally leaked through Microsoft on the company’s xbox.com domain.
It’s a pretty safe bet that the game’s developers at Capcom are going to announce Resident Evil: Revelations 2, or Biohazard Revelations 2 in the near future.
The development of the game doesn’t mean that the studio doesn’t also have in store a Resident Evil 7, which has long rumored to be in development after the release of Resident Evil 6. Sadly, Resident Evil 6 was far from the touted ‘old school experience’ its fans demanded of the series, delivering instead frantic third-person combat more akin to the Gears of War series than anything the Resident Evil series is known for.
Expect more details about Resident Evil: Revelations 2 when the game is officially announced. Just don’t expect it to be a next-gen experience.
