Pokemon Omega Red & Alpha Sapphire: Pachirisu is OP in the Pokemon World Championships

August 17, 2014 by Ryan Parreno

This Pokemon is powerful now, but will he stay this powerful in Omega Red & Alpha Sapphire?

Today we are taking a break from the usual Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire leaks and rumors to discuss the ongoing Pokemon World Championships. As of this writing, the tournament is still ongoing, but the tournament already has its breakout star: Pachirisu.

So what’s the story here? Pachirisu is an electric type Pokemon, just like Pikachu, and is generally uncommon in tournaments. Few players know how to make use out of him, and how to play him. And yet here we are, jumping into the thick of the Pokemon World Championships, and Korean competitive Pokemon player Se Jun Park is showing us all how to use Pachirisu.

Pachirisu is not the type of Pokemon to take everyone else using powerful attacks directly, but is most potent at stifling other Pokemon from using their most powerful attacks. As such, he is best used in synergy within a powerful team. In this case, Se Jun assembled a team that includes Pachirisu, Gyarados, and Garchomp. Se Jun made use of Pachirisu’s Follow Me to take attention from the enemy Pokemon, opening it up for his partner to attack. In this battle, he also uses the Chilan and Sitrus Berries to keep Picharisu in the game.

Eventually, Pachirisu gets taken out, but thanks to how Se Jun used Pachirisu to nerf his opponent Omari’s attacks, and Omari’s bad luck with his Pokemon flinching twice during the battle, the fight went to Se Jun.

You may have noticed Pachirisu had a lot of vitality there, and as you can see in our cover image, Se Jun trained the heck out of him for this purpose. Pachirisu has proven to be a potent Pokemon for Pokemon X and Y, but will Game Freak nerf him for Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire? Or will they augment his abilities, to encourage fans to use him, maybe even give him a Mega Evolution? Share with us what you think in the comments below.

Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire is coming to 3DS on November 21. Check out the whole match that shows off Picharisu’s power below.
