Bioware has unveiled the official Gamescom trailer for Dragon Age: Inquisition, and in it we are introduced to the enemies of Thedas, dangerous enemies from beyond the Veil.
The war between Templars and Mages is about to receive a rude interruption, as the creatures from the Fade are not just on their way to Thedas, they are already there. A new assortment of demons, spirits, and unusual beasts are on their way to destroy Thedas and everything you hold dear about it.
An unknown person (or creature?) speaks and taunts the Inquisitor, telling him to ask for his maker, and stating that he will get no answer because they don’t exist. At the very end (and as seen in this cover image), said maker appears to be a dragon hybrid, which is itself attacked by another dragon. Interesting revelation, you will even get a dragon to your cause!
Creative Director Mike Laidlaw dropped the details you need to know based on some cameos you may or may not have noticed. This is dependent on whether you have played previous games. Hawke, the same Hawke you know from before, is in the trailer. There is also a warden, but it is not the same warden from Dragon Age Origins. Finally, Laidlaw reveals that characters that you have seen in previous games, whom you were able to modify before, can also be modified to look the way you last saw them in Inquisition.
Frankly, we will need other minds more familiar with the lore to unpack all of this, but you can count on us at GameRanx to keep you up to date on all things Dragon Age.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is coming November 18 to Windows, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Check out the full trailer here.
