Elden Ring is one of the more anticipated video games set to launch in the coming year. This is a title being developed by FromSoftware and while that name holds a ton of weight these days, those that might not find the name ringing any bells may know of at least their previous works. In the past, FromSoftware has brought out the Souls series which is a collection of titles that fans have praised for its incredibly challenging gameplay along with its dark and dreary world locations.
With Elden Ring being developed at the moment, fans have been waiting for more information to come out regarding this title. There’s been little to no details unleashed for this title until recently. After its big showcase reveals during E3 2019, it wouldn’t be until Summer Games Fest Kickoff that we got the latest trailer highlight. This is shaping up to be quite the game that resembles FromSoftware’s previously beloved works.
However, fans might also know that this is a title being developed with the help of Geroge R.R. Martin. Again, that name might be familiar to quite a few readers out there but if you don’t recall the name this is the author behind the A Song of Ice and Fire which was later adapted into the HBO hit series, Game of Thrones. With all that said, there might be some fans out there wondering just how involved this legendary author was during the creation of this video game and now we have some more details from game director Hidetaka Miyazaki.
According to an interview with Miyazaki with Famitsu, FromSoftware wanted to focus on the game creation while the lore and story building would be through the help of Martin. This allowed the developers to have a more lore-heavy game with a stronger narrative which will help make this game stand on its own. Now, just how much of this world-building and narrative will translate to a game that will surpass FromSoftware’s previous works remains to be seen.
